My sixtieth decade has just begun and I’m committed to making it the best, most creative, most lucrative, and adventurous yet!

It’s interesting, I don’t mind my age, I just can’t believe that the number is that high. So while I take stock of my life, which I do fairly often, I have to say that I’m in the best place I’ve ever been. I feel (mostly) confident in myself, I love my work. I love that I get to be creative every day and that I’m surrounded by people I love, who also love me. Pretty basic stuff right? It’s funny how the older I get the more basic my needs are and the more lofty my dreams become. I think the difference is that all my wishes feel like they’re absolutely doable; which probably speaks to the idea that I am more confident, and quite honestly, I’ve seen a lot of shit, right? (Haven’t we all?)

My Fifties were filled with a lot of really difficult shit. My entire life was upended. Some of it was planned and expected, some absolutely was not. A great bit of it was necessary to clear the path, some of it was just plain heartbreaking grief with no meaning for it, as far as I can see. But, in the midst of the rubble, I managed to make a really nice life for myself. I definitely had help; a whole lot of help. Where I’m standing now seems to be right where I’m supposed to be.

So, what’s my point? Well for the “365 of 60” – that’s the working title at this point, I want to craft a year that’s more creative, productive, and abundant, than any year on record for me. I want more collaboration, more festivals, more gatherings, more travel, more magic.

So, right here, right now, I’m committing to a check in. I’m holding myself accountable for my creativity and my commitment to it. I’m promising myself at least one creative act per day. I’m open to what that means, what that looks like, and where it gets shared. One of my “topics” is that once a week I’ll share someone else’s creativity. I want to use a very broad definition of the word creativity to show that creativity is everywhere, in every act if you treat it that way.
