Create Your Own Sigil: Magic You Can See
In a world full of chaos, it’s empowering to hold a little piece of magic that’s entirely you. That’s what a sigil is—a symbolic representation of your intention, crafted with intention and sealed with energy. Whether you’re new to magic or looking to deepen your practice, learning to create sigils is a powerful way to channel your creativity into manifestation.
What Is a Sigil?
From Dictionary.com
“sigil
[sij-il]
noun
1. a pictorial symbol used in ritualistic magic and supposed to have supernatural power: Create a sigil to represent your goal or resolution and carve it into the candle.
Seven sigils spell out the names of the seven archangels who govern the days of the week.
Create a sigil to represent your goal or resolution and carve it into the candle.
2. a seal or signet.”
Why Use Sigils?
Because they’re:
- ✨ Personal: Each sigil is tied to your own words and desires.
- ? Secret: They can be disguised or hidden in plain sight.
- ? Creative: Sigil-making is part spell, part art project.
- ? Effective: They work by focusing your will and intention.
How to Create Your Own Sigil
Here’s a simple method:
1.
State Your Intention
Write out a clear, present-tense statement of what you want.
Examples:
- I trust my intuition.
- I attract aligned clients.
- I am surrounded by peace.
2.
Remove Vowels and Repeating Letters
Let’s use: I am confident and creative.
Remove vowels: M C N F D N T N C R T V
Remove duplicates: M C N F D T R V
3.
Rearrange and Stylize
Now play with the letters! Combine them, stretch them, turn them upside down. Let your hand guide you more than your head. This is part logic, part flow. You could do this by hand on actual paper, or use Procreate, Canva, Photoshop, whatever you want.
? You’re not going for readability—you’re going for resonance.
4.
Charge the Sigil
Now that you’ve created your sigil, it’s time to activate it. Here are a few methods:
- Meditation: Gaze at your sigil while focusing on your intention.
- Elemental Ritual: Burn it, bury it, anoint it, or let it float on water.
- Moon Magic: Charge it under a new moon.
- Creative Acts: Incorporate it into art, wear it on your body, or place it in your planner. You might even get a tattoo, but make sure that it’s something you want to keep forever. On. Your. Body.
Choose the method that feels most potent to you.
✍️ Your Magic, Your Way
Sigils are personal spells disguised as symbols—intuitive, effective, and beautiful. And once you learn how to create them, you can make one for anything: protection, clarity, courage, love, abundance, and more.
Use them in your journals, carve them into candles, sketch them on your mirror, or wear them like armor. You’re not just making art—you’re making change. Here’s one of mine, that I am seriously considering as a tattoo. Notice there are no letters in this one at all. Why? Because you get to decide what you want in your sigil!
