The people we spend the most time with can have a significant impact on our lives. It is often said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. The idea behind this statement is that the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of those around us can influence our own thoughts and actions.
If we surround ourselves with positive, motivated, and goal-oriented individuals, their energy and mindset can rub off on us, inspiring us to strive for success. Conversely, if we spend time with people who have negative attitudes, lack ambition, or engage in harmful behaviors, their influence can hold us back and hinder personal growth.
Therefore, it is important to choose our companions wisely and surround ourselves with individuals who uplift and motivate us. By doing so, we increase our chances of personal development and success, as we are more likely to adopt their positive qualities and behaviors.
Do not underestimate the power of your social circle. It can shape our outlook on life, impact our choices, and ultimately influence our own behavior and achievements.
Of course, we’re not talking about cutting people out of our lives, entirely, just because they’re not as positive, or motivated as we’d like them to be. No one can be all things to all people. We’re just looking to be thoughtful about who we spend the most time with. I have a few criteria that I like to consider when I’m planning my social calendar.
Who are People that Make me Feel Most Aligned With my purpose?
In no particular order, these are the types of people I like to include in my circle.
- The Passionate: These are the people who are fired up about what they’re doing. Excited about what’s going on around them, even what you’re doing. There’s something about a “fire” that spreads into our consciousness.
- The Seeker: This is the person who questions everything, especially the status quo. Have one of these people in your circle to keep it real and be open to new ideas, thought processes, and alternative ways of doing things.
- The Motivational: Have you ever been around someone that has so many good things going on? Who keep expanding their ideas and activities? Some of us don’t have that motivational muscle like others do. Have one of these people in your circle to keep it moving.
- The Grateful: There’s nothing like gratitude to put thing in perspective. Reminding you to acknowledge the goodness in your life. These people are great for remembering and honoring the abundance already in your life.
- The Inspired: Similar to the motivational, the inspired(s) are always ready to look at things in a new light. Innovation and curiosity are their keywords. They’re the ones who come up with the grand ideas, the motivational make them happen, bring them into being.
