What Does Your Intuition Tell You?
Go with your gut.
Trust your instinct.
Well, how does it feel?
These are all questions that entrepreneurs ask themselves on an almost, if not literally, daily basis.
Intuition is a hot buzz-word in trade magazines and on business social media.
So how do you learn to trust your intuition?
- First things first. If you don’t know how to quiet your mind, learn how. Immediately. Meditation, exercise, mindless work (ironing, vacuuming) anything that you really don’t have to think about can be meditative. Turn off the TV, the radio, whatever. Get comfortable with getting quiet. If you’re not sure how to meditate here are thousands of ideas.
- Pay attention to your dreams (day and night). Sometimes daydreaming is just what you need to get in touch with what you’re trying to do and lots of times, I have a subconscious thought that comes through in a night dream. It’s not always obvious at first, but if I think about it, and sometimes even google it, I can get an idea. Recently I had a dream about a certain animal. I didn’t even know they existed, much less what they were called. After a couple of days, I finally googled the name of the animal (which came to me in the dream) and there was a company, doing for very large corporations, an idea I had that I wanted to implement for my clients. To me, it was just a sign that it was a good idea and I should follow through.
- Serendipity and Synchronicity. Pay attention! Have you ever had a book “jump” off a shelf and it was just what you needed to read at the time. Or you’re thinking about a certain problem and someone calls you and you mention it to them and they have an idea that you wouldn’t have thought of? Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
But how can you be sure? Is it ego or intuition?
Is this ‘guidance’ based in fear? Or does it come from a place of abundance? Does the guidance offer a win/win situation, or is it more based in I lose/you win – You lose/I win? Unless it’s a win for all involved, I can guarantee you that it’s ego. If it comes from a place of lack? Ego.
If there’s a solution for everyone involved, where everyone comes away a winner? Intuition.
Rely upon your feelings, your inner compass to determine whether or not it’s intuition. Butterflies, goosebumps, a sense that all will be well, most assuredly means that you’re intuition is working.
It’s like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. The more you trust it, the more reliable it becomes.
